Lamalera Whale Hunting 5 Days 4 Nights

Lamalera is a whaling village located on Lembata Island and during the months of May through to late SEPTEMBER  is the whale hunting season for the people of Lamalera and these traditional whalers are known as Lamafa and use simple traditional tools, small row boats and hand-thrown harpoons to ply their trade during the whaling season. Whatever they catch nothing is wasted as it is either consumed or sold. Established hundreds of years past and as far back as before the intrusion of Catholic missionaries, the villagers hold traditional rituals to commemorate their ancestors and for blessings for their whale harvest.

Day 1: Fly From Bali - Maumere 

Take a flight with sriwijaya air from Bali to Maumere, pick up airport by an english guide and direct drive for four hours to Larantuka. Arrive in Larantuka check in hotel. Afternoon city tour 

Day 2: Larantuka - Lamalera

From Larantuka, transfer to the harbor to get on board a local motorized boat and cruise to lewoleba for about 4 hours. On arrivel in lewoleba harbor lunch  in lewoleba then drive to lamalera about 4 hours. Dinner and overnight in lamalera home stay. 

Day 3: Lamalera Full Day Tours

After breakfast walk to the beach and aboard a local motorized boat to watch the local people hunting whales. Lunch box will be provided on boat. Afternoon return to the village. Dinner and overnight at  home stay .

Day  4: Lamalera – Larantuka

Early morning drive to lewoleba, breaksfast box will be provided. Upon arrive in lewoleba town drive to lewoleba harbor and curise to larantuka , night driving to Maumere check in hotel 

Day 5: Fly back from Maumere to Bali and the trip finished.
